ABOUT GWLS
Co-creating Love and Justice with our Community
Greater Waco Legal Services provides affordable legal services, holistic advocacy, and community-driven problem-solving so that all members of our community have equal access to justice.
GWLS strives to impact our community by providing services that allow individuals the opportunity to grow healthier, further their education, and be more financially secure. We will play a significant role in creating lasting solutions to complex, systemic problems. As we work together with our community, GWLS will be a connecting force for growing Love and Justice in our world so that people of every race, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, and national origin are treated equally under the law and empowered to live a life full of freedom, joy, peace, and love.
GWLS joins with others to use our resources, education, experience and skills in the actions of Love and Justice in our world.
“Power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic.
Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and
justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love.”
– Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
MEET OUR PARTNERS
Kent McKeever
Managing Attorney Partner
Kent McKeever graduated from Baylor University in 2001 and Princeton Theological Seminary (’04) where he earned a Master of Divinity degree. For three years he worked as the Executive Director and Pastor of a nonprofit ministry and church in Longview, TX. This job gave him the opportunity to work in impoverished and underserved communities. He saw the need for legal advocacy on many levels, and it was that eye-opening experience that led him to attend Vanderbilt Law School (’12). From 2012 – 2016, Kent served as the Attorney-Director of Mission Waco Legal Services, and in 2014 he was named “Outstanding Young Lawyer” by the Waco-McLennan County Young Lawyers Association. Kent founded GWLS in 2017 to provide the Waco community with access to the justice system through affordable legal representation, advice, and resources. Today he enjoys connecting with his clients, partners, and others in the community through his work at GWLS. “Our clients’ resilience, perseverance, dignity, and trust—even in the face of overwhelming obstacles and hardships—gives me such great hope.”
Rachel Dove
Staff Attorney Partner
Rachel is a graduate of Baylor University (2009) and Baylor Law School (2012). After graduation, she opened her own law practice with a focus on family law issues. She also volunteered her time at the First Monday Legal Advice Clinics. In 2017, Rachel joined GWLS and handles primarily family law cases such as divorce, child custody, and child support. She focuses much of her time on cases where child custody is in dispute.
Paulina Golden
Social Work Partner
Paulina is a Licensed Master Social Worker. She says one thing people might not know about her is that she is the daughter of two immigrants. Her favorite part about what she does at Greater Waco Legal Services is connecting and serving members of her community, assisting people with language barriers, and being part of a team that is dedicated to social justice.
